Kimberly-Clark announced on February 26, 2025, a new partnership with Independent Power Producer BNZ, involving three new virtual solar power purchase agreements (vPPAs) in Italy and Spain. These vPPAs are projected to generate 164 GWh of renewable electricity annually.
This renewable energy generation is equivalent to over 40% of the total electricity consumed by Kimberly-Clark's Western & Central European production facilities, which are located in Germany, Spain, Italy, France, and Czechia. The launch of these projects is scheduled for the second quarter of 2025.
The initiative is a significant step towards Kimberly-Clark's global commitment to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030, against a 2015 baseline. It also supports the electrification and carbon emissions reduction of the tissue-making process.
