Knife River Corporation announced the acquisition of Texcrete Operations LLC and TexAgg LLC, collectively known as Texcrete, on December 15, 2025. The deal adds six ready‑mix plants and 85 ready‑mix trucks located in Brazos and Montgomery counties, as well as a sand and gravel site that provides more than 20 years of aggregate reserves. Roughly 100 employees from Texcrete will join Knife River’s Texas workforce.
The transaction strengthens Knife River’s presence in the Texas Triangle, a high‑growth market that includes the College Station area and the rapidly expanding Montgomery County. By adding ready‑mix capacity and aggregate reserves, Knife River can pull through aggregates from its existing operations while also supplying local demand, thereby smoothing seasonal demand swings between its northern and southern markets.
"The acquisition fits our strategy of focusing on materials‑based, vertically integrated operations in mid‑size, high‑growth markets," said Brian Gray, Knife River’s President and CEO. The move aligns with the company’s “Competitive EDGE” framework, which prioritizes EBITDA margin improvement, disciplined growth, and operational excellence.
Knife River’s expansion comes amid a broader wave of infrastructure investment in Texas, including a $112 million materials and paving contract for the State Highway 6 improvement project in Bryan‑College Station. The company’s strong cash position and low leverage give it the financial flexibility to pursue such acquisitions.
With the added capacity, Knife River is positioned to capture a larger share of both public‑sector and private‑sector construction demand in the region. The acquisition also enhances the company’s vertically integrated model, improving pricing power and operational efficiency across its ready‑mix and aggregate businesses.
