Kohl's announced a new cloud-based approach to managing its technology infrastructure across all more than 1,100 stores nationwide. This modernized system, developed in collaboration with Dell Technologies, is called 'lean stores' and will be fully integrated by the holiday shopping season. The new model centralizes all store technology operations, including registers, handheld devices, WiFi, and digital signage, into a private cloud. This eliminates legacy in-store infrastructure, leading to improved reliability and speed to market. This shift enables real-time data feeds to stores, allowing for software changes without disrupting operations and supporting the deployment of new tools. The company expects this to enhance the in-store experience for both customers and associates.
