Kratos Defense & Security Solutions completed a factory acceptance test of its EPOCH command‑and‑control (C2) software with Airbus’ OneSat software‑defined satellite platform on December 30, 2025. The test confirmed that EPOCH can manage the satellite’s dynamic, in‑orbit reconfiguration capabilities while meeting all safety and redundancy requirements.
The milestone demonstrates Kratos’ expertise in satellite command and control, a field in which the company has more than two decades of experience. By validating the software against OneSat’s unique re‑configurable architecture, Kratos has opened a new revenue stream in the growing software‑defined satellite market, which is expected to expand as operators seek more agile and cost‑effective constellations.
The test is part of a broader push by Kratos to strengthen its Unmanned Systems and Government Solutions segments. In the third quarter of 2025, the Unmanned Systems segment recorded 35.8% revenue growth and operating income that rose 575%, driven by strong demand for tactical drones and hypersonic propulsion contracts. The new satellite capability complements these high‑growth areas and positions Kratos to capture a share of the emerging space‑based ISR and communications market.
Management highlighted the strategic fit of the partnership. “The flexibility of our EPOCH command and control system design and the experience of our personnel allow us to work with Airbus to unlock the full potential of the OneSat platform—enabling greater flexibility, faster reconfiguration, and smarter operations for our mutual customers,” said Maurizio Scotta, President of Kratos Communications. Airbus’ Senior Vice President of Telecommunication and Navigation, Elodie Viau, added that the successful test gives Airbus full confidence in the reliability and performance of the EPOCH system.
The achievement also supports Kratos’ recent contract wins, including approximately $30 million in new agreements for air defense and C5ISR hardware and a letter of intent for 60 hypersonic motors from L3Harris. These contracts, combined with the OneSat milestone, reinforce the company’s trajectory of high‑margin growth in defense and aerospace.
Analysts view the test as a validation of Kratos’ strategic focus on high‑technology defense solutions. While the company’s Q3 2025 earnings beat expectations with an EPS of $0.14 versus a consensus of $0.12, the satellite milestone adds further confidence that Kratos can sustain its revenue and margin expansion in the coming years.
