América Móvil S.A.B. de C.V. (AMX) has consolidated ClaroVTR into its ongoing operations, converting all outstanding convertible notes held by AMX into equity. This transaction results in AMX holding a 91.62% majority interest in ClaroVTR. The move was recently approved by the National Economic Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Chile.
Liberty Latin America Ltd. (LLA) will retain an 8.38% equity interest in ClaroVTR following the transaction. The shareholders' agreement between AMX and LLA reflects a governance structure aligned with these new equity interests. This consolidation strengthens AMX's position as a leading telecommunication service provider in Chile.
For Liberty Latin America, this means a reduced, but still present, stake in the Chilean joint venture. The change in ownership structure allows AMX to consolidate ClaroVTR, positioning it to provide next-generation services through its 5G network and enhancing its integrated offerings in Chile.
