Liberty Latin America Divests Remaining Stake in ClaroVTR to América Móvil

LILA
October 04, 2025

América Móvil (AMX) has taken full control of its Chilean business, ClaroVTR, through a share purchase from Liberty Latin America. This transaction follows AMX's earlier consolidation of ClaroVTR in October 2024, where it acquired a 91.62% majority interest by converting convertible notes into equity. Liberty Latin America had retained an 8.38% equity interest at that time.

The latest share purchase means Liberty Latin America has divested its remaining minority stake in ClaroVTR. This move allows América Móvil to fully integrate and overhaul its operations in Chile, solidifying its position as a leading telecommunications provider in the country.

For Liberty Latin America, this divestiture represents a complete exit from its equity interest in the ClaroVTR joint venture. This strategic decision allows the company to streamline its portfolio and potentially reallocate resources to other core markets and growth initiatives within its Latin America and Caribbean footprint.
