Liberty Networks, a segment of Liberty Latin America, has expanded its network coverage by activating two new regional Points-of-Presence (PoPs) in Campeche and Chetumal, Mexico, and enhancing an existing PoP in Lima, Peru. This strategic expansion supports the company's regional growth strategy and aims to strengthen connectivity across Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula and South America. The new and enhanced PoPs will offer a suite of solutions, including high-speed IP Transit, DDoS Protection, MPLS, and Ethernet services.
These services are targeted at local enterprises, carriers, and government institutions, enabling them to scale operations, enhance performance, and connect seamlessly with global networks. With these additions, Liberty Networks now operates 96 wholesale PoPs across Latin America and the Caribbean, reinforcing its position as a backbone of regional connectivity. The company's network spans over 30 countries with nearly 50,000 kilometers of submarine fiber optic cable and 17,000 kilometers of terrestrial networks.
This latest expansion follows previous PoP activations in Merida, Mexico, and Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, last year. It forms part of Liberty Networks' $250 million five-year investment plan, initially announced in 2023, which focuses on strengthening the company's digital backbone in regions experiencing rapid growth in data consumption.
