Lumen expands its AI‑ready partnership with QTS Data Centers, adding 16 new campuses across Arizona, Georgia, Ohio, Texas, Virginia, and Oregon to its 340,000‑route‑mile global fiber backbone.
QTS will purchase Lumen’s Wavelength services to provide high‑speed, low‑latency connectivity for AI workloads, while Lumen will supply fiber, software‑defined networking, and backbone infrastructure to support the integration.
The expansion builds on an earlier collaboration that began in 2023, when the two companies first connected a handful of sites. The new agreement extends Lumen’s AI‑ready network into QTS’s data‑center footprint, enabling seamless end‑to‑end connectivity for enterprises that require rapid, secure links to multiple cloud platforms.
QTS CTO Brent Bensten said the partnership will "strengthen QTS’s ability to deliver low‑latency, high‑bandwidth services to AI and hyperscaler customers." Lumen’s CEO highlighted the deal as part of its broader strategy to become a purpose‑built AI infrastructure provider, adding 34 million new fiber miles by 2028.
The deal positions Lumen as a key network provider for the growing AI and hyperscaler market, supporting its transformation agenda and high‑margin growth segment. No financial terms were disclosed.
