Southwest Airlines announced on November 1, 2024, a significant expansion of its network, including new daily nonstop service from Ontario, California (ONT) to Baltimore/Washington (BWI) starting June 5, 2025. San Francisco International Airport (SFO) will also gain daily nonstop service to Baltimore and Nashville from the same date.
Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) will see the addition of six new transcontinental red-eye flights. These new services will connect BWI Marshall with Long Beach, Ontario, Portland, San Francisco, San Jose, and Seattle, all commencing June 5, 2025.
These new routes and expanded services, particularly the introduction of more red-eye flights, are designed to optimize aircraft utilization and cater to evolving customer demand for longer-haul and overnight travel options, enhancing Southwest's competitive position.
