Southwest Airlines announced on February 24, 2025, new twice-daily nonstop flights between San Diego International Airport (SAN) and Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT), set to begin on October 2, 2025. This new service will operate from Phase 1A of San Diego's New Terminal 1, scheduled to open in September 2025. The airline is also expanding its service to Tampa, Florida, increasing flights from once a week to five days a week (Thursdays through Mondays). Additionally, four seasonal routes to Colorado Springs, Columbus, Milwaukee, and San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico, will be extended into the October schedule. These network enhancements reflect Southwest's strategy to optimize its route offerings and capitalize on new airport infrastructure. The expanded service aims to meet customer demand and strengthen the airline's presence in key markets.
