Southwest Airlines announced on December 23, 2024, new nonstop service between Ronald Reagan Washington International Airport (DCA) and Harry Reid International Airport (LAS), starting February 13, 2025, with daily service from March 6, 2025. This expansion was approved by the U.S. Department of Transportation. The airline also introduced one-stop, no-change service between DCA and Sacramento (SMF). These new routes aim to provide more travel options and competitive fares for customers in the Washington D.C. area. Additionally, Southwest Airlines became the title sponsor of the Maui Invitational college basketball tournament, now officially named the 'Southwest Maui Invitational.' This sponsorship strengthens the airline's connection with the Maui community and offers travel packages for fans attending the event in November 2025.
