A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-800 aircraft was struck by a bullet near the cockpit on the evening of November 15, 2024, while preparing for departure at Dallas Love Field airport. The incident forced the cancellation of Flight 2494, bound for Indianapolis. No injuries were reported among the crew or passengers. Law enforcement was immediately contacted, and the aircraft was removed from service for investigation. The Dallas Police Department responded to the scene. This unusual safety incident prompted the temporary closure of runway 13R/31L at Dallas Love Field. Southwest Airlines arranged alternative flights for the affected passengers.
