Delta Air Lines announced on January 7, 2025, that it will end its eight-year partnership with Lyft, effective April 7, 2025. The airline will instead link its SkyMiles loyalty program with Uber, starting in the spring.
Under the previous agreement, Lyft users with linked accounts could earn two miles for each dollar spent on airport rides. This partnership contributed to rider acquisition and retention for Lyft, particularly for business and leisure travelers.
The termination of this long-standing partnership represents a loss of a significant customer channel for Lyft. While Lyft stated it would offset the impact through other relationships, the move could affect its ride volume and competitive position in the travel segment.
