Lyft announced on August 4, 2025, a strategic partnership with China's Baidu to deploy Baidu's Apollo Go autonomous vehicles (AVs) across key European markets starting next year. This collaboration marks a significant international expansion for Lyft's autonomous vehicle strategy.

The robotaxis, featuring Baidu’s electric RT6 models, will initially be deployed in the U.K. and Germany from 2026, with plans to expand to thousands of vehicles across Europe in subsequent years. This initiative leverages Lyft's recent acquisition of FREENOW, a European multi-mobility app.

This partnership is expected to boost Lyft's presence in the European market, where it will compete with rivals like Uber and Bolt. The integration of AVs into its network is a key component of Lyft's long-term strategy to expand its total addressable market and enhance service offerings.
