Masimo announced on October 29, 2024, that Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is piloting the Masimo Radius VSM™ patient-worn vital signs monitor. This integration, combined with Masimo Patient SafetyNet™, is being used in the Emergency Department and non-traditional care spaces. The pilot program aims to combat emergency room congestion by providing continuous, wireless monitoring for patients in hallway beds, offload areas, and waiting rooms. This allows for real-time vital sign monitoring, enabling quicker intervention and enhancing patient safety. Radius VSM offers a range of physiological measurements, including Masimo SET® pulse oximetry, noninvasive blood pressure, continuous temperature, respiration rate, and 3-leadwire electrocardiography. The initial success of the pilot is expected to lead to an expanded rollout within the ED and potential adoption in other hospital areas.
