MercadoLibre has begun deploying its first Digit humanoid robots from Agility Robotics in a Texas fulfillment center, marking the company’s first large‑scale use of industrial humanoid automation in its logistics network. The partnership, announced on December 10, 2025, will see the robots lift, move, and sort totes while the company tests additional use cases that could improve ergonomic safety, reduce labor gaps, and increase productivity across its fulfillment network.
Digit is the first humanoid robot designed for industrial work. In live commerce operations it has already moved more than 100,000 totes, and its recent battery‑life and autonomous docking upgrades make it well suited for continuous, high‑volume work. In the Texas center the robots will operate alongside human teams, handling repetitive lifting and sorting tasks that are traditionally labor‑intensive and ergonomically risky. By automating these motions, MercadoLibre aims to free human workers for higher‑value activities and to mitigate the impact of labor shortages that have pressured fulfillment costs in the U.S. and Latin America.
The automation push comes at a time when MercadoLibre’s financial performance has been strong. In Q4 2024 the company generated $6.05 billion in revenue, up 24% year‑over‑year, and reported earnings per share of $12.61. In Q3 2025 revenue rose to $7.41 billion and net income reached $421 million. Gross margin contracted 110 basis points YoY in Q4 2024, but operating margin expanded thanks to cost‑control initiatives and scale. The robotics deployment is part of a broader strategy to leverage technology to sustain margin growth while addressing the rising cost of labor and the need for faster, safer order fulfillment.
Agustin Costa, Senior Vice President of Shipping, said the partnership “is a significant step forward in our vision to create a safer, more efficient, and adaptable logistics network.” He added that the robots will complement human teams and help the company “drive the next evolution of commerce in Latin America.” Daniel Diez, Chief Business Officer of Agility Robotics, noted that MercadoLibre “has demonstrated that it is a true innovator in both commerce and fintech” and that the collaboration will “deliver real value into their facilities.”
The move places MercadoLibre alongside other logistics leaders such as Amazon, GXO, and Schaeffler that have adopted Digit robots. It also dovetails with the company’s recent expansion into the U.S., where it opened its first Texas distribution center in May 2024 to better serve U.S. sellers and Mexican buyers. By integrating advanced robotics, MercadoLibre is positioning itself to scale its fulfillment operations, reduce ergonomic risk, and maintain a competitive edge in a market where automation is becoming a differentiator.
