Mercer Celgar has successfully implemented an innovation in its pulp production process, decoupling the stock preparation system from the production rates of its two pulp machines. This strategic adjustment stabilized the system's flow rate, allowing the five-stage hydrocyclone cleaning system to operate consistently at optimal levels.

This operational change has led to a significant reduction in fiber losses, decreasing them by an impressive 79%. The improved efficiency is expected to result in annual savings of approximately $500,000 for the mill.

Beyond the financial benefits, the project has reduced wear on cleaner components, extending their lifespan and minimizing maintenance needs. The process has also become more stable, with fewer variations in stock consistency and tank levels, enabling operators to focus on proactive improvements.
