Mercer Mass Timber has supplied 5,100 cubic meters of solid timber, including cross-laminated timber panels and glulam beams, for Google's first all-wood office building, Google Borregas, in Mountain View, California. The five-story, two million-square-foot office building utilizes Douglas fir from Mercer's Okanagan mill.

This project is a testament to regenerative design, significantly reducing embodied energy and sequestering enough CO₂ to offset the annual emissions of over 1,300 cars. The building has achieved LEED Platinum certification and incorporates solar-powered energy generation, aligning with Google's goal of operating with zero carbon emissions by 2030.

The use of solid timber in such a large-scale corporate project underscores the increasing adoption of sustainable building materials. Mercer's involvement positions it as a key player in the low-carbon construction market, demonstrating its ability to deliver on major, environmentally conscious developments.
