N-able Introduces Fortified Copies Feature in Cove Data Protection for Enhanced Ransomware Protection

N-able, Inc. announced the launch of Fortified Copies within its Cove Data Protection offering on October 30, 2024. This new feature provides automatic backup immutability, adding a layer of protection for servers, workstations, and Microsoft 365 backups without additional management or cost.

Fortified Copies are immutable backups that cannot be altered or deleted by threat actors, as they are inaccessible via Cove’s management console, API, or CLI. These copies are automatically created hourly across all backups and devices, retained for 30 days without manual intervention.

This enhancement is crucial given that 94% of ransomware victims have their backups targeted by attackers. Cove's architecture already stores primary backups off the local network in N-able's private cloud, and Fortified Copies further strengthens this cyber resilience, differentiating it from legacy backup solutions.
