The Amite Solar Energy Center, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, LLC, is now operational in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana. This milestone marks the launch of NextEra Energy Resources' first utility-scale energy facility in the state, contributing to local energy supply.
The new energy center has the capacity to generate up to 100 megawatts of energy, which is sufficient to power thousands of Louisiana homes and businesses. It achieved commercial operations in March 2025, providing dependable electricity to Louisiana's power grid.
This project, a collaboration with DEMCO, is expected to provide low-cost, fixed-price energy for the next 25 years. Its 15-month construction phase created 200 jobs and is projected to generate approximately $16 million in additional tax revenue for Tangipahoa Parish over the next 30 years.
