LIS Technologies Inc. (LIST) and its subcontractor NANO Nuclear Energy Inc. announced on December 12, 2024, their selection as one of six contract awardees in the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Low-Enriched Uranium (LEU) Enrichment Acquisition Program. This program has an anticipated aggregate appropriation of $3.4 billion over 10 years, reflecting the DOE's commitment to bolstering domestic fuel supply chains. This achievement builds on the existing investment and collaboration between LIST and NANO Nuclear. Under the contract, the DOE will issue task orders to the six awardees, each with a minimum value of $2 million. LIST will serve as the prime contractor, with NANO Nuclear acting as a key subcontractor, contributing technical and regulatory expertise in advanced nuclear solutions. NANO Nuclear will specifically focus on fuel deconversion, fuel fabrication, and fuel transportation, while LIST oversees primary uranium enrichment processes using its novel laser technology. This contract is a critical step in ensuring the availability of LEU for current and future U.S. nuclear energy infrastructure, reducing reliance on foreign uranium supplies. The collaboration aims to create a vertically integrated fuel pipeline to produce LEU and High-Assay Low Enriched Uranium (HALEU), ensuring a seamless supply chain from fuel enrichment to reactor deployment, including for NANO Nuclear's 'ZEUS' and 'ODIN' microreactors.
