NANO Nuclear Energy Inc. announced on January 30, 2025, that it has contracted with Thermal Engineering International (TEi), a Babcock Power Inc.® company, to advance the design and fabrication of heat exchangers for its proprietary, portable ODIN nuclear microreactor. TEi is a leading supplier of heat transfer technology to the electric power generation industry with over 100 years of experience.
Under the contract, TEi will develop detailed designs for key heat exchanger technology, including the eventual fabrication of both primary and secondary heat exchangers for the ODIN microreactor. This initiative will draw on TEi's expertise from procurement to fabrication, in collaboration with NANO Nuclear’s technical team. This marks a critical milestone in ODIN’s development roadmap, advancing testing and demonstration efforts.
The heat transfer systems are essential components within the ODIN microreactor, and their integration is a significant step toward demonstration, regulatory licensing, and market introduction. This agreement builds on previous work, including an external technical audit of the ODIN reactor by Idaho National Laboratory, which examined crucial design solutions and system components.
