NANO Nuclear Energy Inc. announced on February 4, 2025, the establishment of a purpose-built demonstration facility in Westchester County, New York. This facility will be used to demonstrate the operation and viability of several non-nuclear parts and components for NANO Nuclear’s four microreactors in development: ZEUS™, ODIN™, LOKI MMR™, and KRONOS MMR™. The facility is in the final stages of retrofitting and is expected to be operational this spring.
The facility will also support ongoing work on NANO Nuclear’s SBIR Phase III project for its Annular Linear Induction Pump (ALIP) technology. ALIP is a key enabling technology for advanced molten-salt and liquid-metal nuclear reactors, based on electromagnetic pumps that move conductive fluids without mechanical components. The facility will advance commercialization efforts for ALIP, which could have a significant impact on the wider nuclear energy sector.
This expansion of operations in New York State follows NANO Nuclear’s December 17, 2024, response to a New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) Request for Information concerning advanced nuclear energy technologies. The demonstration facility will enhance NANO Nuclear’s ability to support New York’s pursuit of cost-effective alternatives to carbon-based energy sources.
