Nokia has deployed a next‑generation IP architecture for Zayo, replacing the carrier’s provider‑edge infrastructure with FP5‑based 7750 Service Routers and 7250 Interconnect Routers. The new platform enables 400G and 800G‑capable services, delivering faster, more reliable connectivity across Zayo’s network.

Deployment began in New York and New Jersey and will expand to dozens of markets and thousands of lit buildings across Zayo’s 19 million fiber miles and 147,000 route miles. The upgrade reduces congestion, improves resilience, and simplifies operations for cloud providers, data centers, and enterprises that demand high bandwidth and low latency.

The partnership aligns with Nokia’s Q3 2025 results, where revenue rose 11.6% to $5.61 billion and comparable diluted EPS matched the prior year at EUR 0.06. Optical networks grew 19%, while mobile networks sales dipped 1%. Nokia’s FP5 silicon underpins the new architecture and is part of a strategy to capture the growing data‑center market, supported by a $1 billion investment from Nvidia to accelerate AI‑driven networking.

Zayo’s expansion is reinforced by its acquisition of Crown Castle’s fiber solutions business for $8.5 billion, expected to close in the first half of 2026. The new architecture positions Zayo to meet the surging demand for bandwidth driven by AI, cloud computing, and edge computing, and to deliver higher‑capacity services to its 400 markets and 1,500 on‑net data centers worldwide.

The deployment demonstrates Nokia’s ability to deliver modular, scalable solutions that accelerate deployment and enhance reliability for large‑scale carriers, reinforcing its competitive moat in the high‑capacity networking space. The FP5 platform offers high performance, power efficiency, and advanced features such as encryption, enabling carriers to support next‑generation services.

Nokia’s strategic focus on data centers and AI networking, combined with Zayo’s network scale, positions both companies to capture the growing high‑capacity market.
