Nucor Corporation announced guidance for its third quarter ending October 4, 2025, expecting earnings to be in the range of $2.05 to $2.15 per diluted share. This forecast is lower than the $2.60 per diluted share reported in the second quarter of 2025, and below analyst expectations.
The anticipated decrease in earnings is projected across all three of Nucor's operating segments. The steel mills segment is expected to experience lower earnings due to a combination of lower volumes and margin compression.
Earnings in the steel products segment are also expected to decrease, driven by higher average costs per ton despite stable average realized pricing and volumes. The raw materials segment is projected to have lower earnings due to reduced profitability in its scrap processing operations. Nucor repurchased approximately 0.7 million shares during the third quarter, contributing to $985 million returned to stockholders year-to-date.
