Nextracker Inc. has launched its NX Earth Truss foundation solution in Australia, marking the company’s first deployment of the technology outside North America. The new foundation system is designed to enable large‑scale solar projects on hard or rocky soils, a terrain that has historically limited siting options in the country.
The NX Earth Truss foundation uses a semi‑autonomous drilling machine, the NX Truss Driver™, equipped with precision GNSS controls and unique drill‑and‑drive technology. The system installs foundations in a single pass, cutting labor hours, eliminating rework, and de‑risking construction timelines. By reducing grading requirements, the technology preserves natural vegetation and lowers project costs, making previously unusable land viable for solar development.
The launch is backed by a grant of up to AUD 4.96 million from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) under its Ultra Low‑Cost Solar program. The grant supports the deployment of the foundation at several pilot sites, including a 30‑MW installation at the Goulburn River solar farm in New South Wales and a 100‑MW project in Queensland.
Nextracker has led Australia’s solar tracker market since 2016, delivering or having under construction more than 10 GW of tracker systems. The NX Earth Truss expands the company’s platform to include foundations, positioning Nextracker as a comprehensive solar power technology provider in a high‑growth market.
The company’s broader foundation portfolio, launched in North America in 2024, includes the NX Anchor and other products acquired through the acquisition of ground‑mount companies Ojjo and Solar Pile International. Local manufacturing partnerships with Orrcon Steel and Baojia, supported by the Queensland Government, further strengthen supply chain resilience in Australia.
