Oklo Inc. announced a binding contract with Siemens Energy to design and deliver the power conversion system for its Aurora advanced fission reactor at Idaho National Laboratory. The agreement authorizes Siemens Energy to begin engineering and layout work for a condensing SST‑600 steam turbine, an SGen‑100A industrial generator, and associated auxiliaries, positioning the Aurora‑INL project to move forward on schedule.
The partnership leverages Siemens Energy’s proven steam turbine and generator technology, allowing Oklo to use commercially available equipment rather than developing custom components. This approach shortens the development timeline, reduces procurement risk, and helps keep the projected commercial operation of the first Aurora powerhouse in late 2027 or early 2028.
Oklo remains a pre‑revenue company. In its most recent quarterly report, the company posted a loss per share of $0.20 versus the consensus estimate of $0.13, and an operating loss of $36.3 million. The loss reflects ongoing investment in research, development, and regulatory activities, while the company’s cash and marketable securities stood at $1.2 billion as of Q3 2025, providing a solid liquidity cushion for continued development.
Chief Product Officer Alex Renner said the collaboration “enables us to bring the Aurora powerhouse online faster by using proven, commercially available power systems, which shortens timelines, lowers costs, and turns advanced nuclear into a deployable product.” Senior Vice President Tobias Panse added that Siemens Energy’s turbine and generator solutions are “ideal for the high‑power demand of small modular reactors like Aurora.”
The contract also aligns with Oklo’s participation in the Department of Energy’s Reactor Pilot Program and its ongoing discussions with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. By securing a key supplier early, Oklo reduces supply‑chain uncertainty and demonstrates execution capability to regulators, investors, and potential customers.
With a strong cash position and a clear path to commercial operation, the binding contract is a critical milestone that strengthens Oklo’s strategy of deploying advanced nuclear technology at scale. The partnership is expected to accelerate the Aurora‑INL project’s progress and reinforce investor confidence in the company’s long‑term growth prospects.
