On June 5, 2025, Okta announced a partnership with Google Cloud to collaborate on defining Agent2Agent (A2A) authentication specifications and building SDKs. This initiative aims to demonstrate how to remotely authenticate AI agents via Auth0 and Auth for GenAI. This collaboration is a critical step towards embedding security into agent-to-agent communication, which is essential for realizing the productivity gains of agentic AI in enterprises. Standards foster interoperability, allowing developers to build integrations once and deploy them across multiple platforms. Aaron Parecki, Director of Identity Standards at Okta, emphasized the importance of prioritizing security and adhering to the principle of least privilege for AI agents. This ensures agents are granted only the necessary access, preventing unintended exposure to sensitive information.
