Olin Corporation's Winchester division, in collaboration with the U.S. Army, celebrated the groundbreaking of a new 6.8mm Ammunition Facility at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant (LCAAP) on February 5, 2025. This facility is a key component of the Army's Next Generation Squad Weapons (NGSW) Program, aimed at modernizing military armaments. The new 450,000 square foot advanced ammunition production facility will be capable of manufacturing all components of 6.8mm ammunition, as well as finished rounds for the U.S. military. This initiative reinforces the iconic legacy of LCAAP and its vital role in national defense, strengthening the defense industrial base. Ken Lane, Olin President & CEO, highlighted the company's pride in building on its American legacy through this partnership with the U.S. Army. The project is expected to create well-paying jobs and drive economic growth in the local community, with 90% of the work supported by industries in the Kansas City region.
