Perma-Fix Environmental Services, Inc. provided an update on its proprietary PFAS treatment technology, Perma-FAS, confirming its 1,000-gallon PFAS Destruction Reactor at the Florida site has delivered exceptional results. After several months of continuous commercial operation, the system successfully processes and eliminates various carbon-fluorine chains at operationally efficient temperatures.
The company is actively working with waste generators and disposal firms, particularly those managing Aqueous Film-Forming Foam (AFFF) and foam fractionator’s waste, to establish strategic partnerships. The system's ability to process high concentrations of PFAS waste efficiently provides significant cost savings and operational benefits compared to alternatives like incineration.
Perma-Fix is accelerating its research focus to apply its technology to granular activated carbon (GAC) and contaminated soils, broadening its market reach. Concurrently, the company is advancing the development of its second-generation treatment unit, which is projected to be three times the capacity of the current system and is expected to be operational later in 2025.
