Guerrilla RF, Inc. announced that its high-efficiency GRF5509 4-watt power amplifier has been selected by Impinj for use in its enterprise-grade RAIN RFID reader module reference design. This integration is designed to enable customers to quickly bring new readers to market, leveraging Impinj’s E family reader ICs.
The GRF5509 power amplifier delivers up to 2 watts of linear power, meeting stringent spectral mask requirements for reader applications. This pairing with Impinj’s leading RAIN RFID reader ICs and Gen2X support is expected to enhance read range and improve the ability to interrogate passive tags, including detuned ones.
This collaboration is significant as it extends the capabilities of Impinj's platform and supports the broader adoption of RAIN RFID solutions. The RAIN Market Research Report from VDC Research predicts that tag integrated circuit (IC) shipments are expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 25.1% through 2028, driven by supply chain upgrades and sustainability initiatives.
