PTC announced on December 3, 2024, a strategic partnership with Microsoft and Volkswagen Group to develop a generative artificial intelligence (AI) copilot based on its Codebeamer application lifecycle management (ALM) solution. This initiative aims to support software development in physical products.
The Codebeamer Copilot is designed to enable software engineers to create and manage product requirements more efficiently, as well as to test, validate, and release them. Volkswagen Group, an existing Codebeamer adopter, is collaborating to embed generative AI with Microsoft Azure AI capabilities to amplify the value of Codebeamer.
This collaboration is expected to drive productivity gains by reducing the time to import, review, and write requirements, and by improving the quality of requirements through duplicate removal and adherence to quality standards. A beta release of Codebeamer Copilot is anticipated for select PTC customers in early 2025.
