Quantum Computing Inc. (QCi) announced on October 30, 2024, significant progress in commercial activities for its quantum photonic chip foundry, which is set to open in Q1 2025. The company launched a pilot program in September to secure sales orders for its thin film lithium niobate (TFLN) foundry services. QCi has engaged in contract and technical negotiations with partners and customers across North America, Europe, and Asia, expecting to finalize multiple orders for its TFLN electro-optical modulator chips by year-end. The company has also executed two Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with Spark Photonics Design, Inc. and Alcyon Photonics. These partnerships aim to introduce evaluation chip kits in 2025 and facilitate the development of process design kits (PDKs) and design services, reinforcing QCi's commitment to global reach. Dr. William McGann, CEO of QCi, stated that the early engagement underscores confidence in the strong growth potential for its photonic chips and highlights global market interest in TFLN capabilities for quantum computing, defense, AI, and data center connectivity.
