Quantum Computing Inc. (QCi) announced on December 17, 2024, that it has been awarded a prime contract by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) Goddard Space Flight Center. This contract will apply QCi's Dirac-3 entropy quantum optimization machine to support NASA's advanced imaging and data processing demands.
The project focuses on addressing the challenging phase unwrapping problem for optimally reconstructing images and extracting information from interferometric radar data. QCi will support NASA in unwrapping interferograms at full scale, aiming to enhance data quality and accuracy.
Dr. William McGann, CEO of QCi, stated that this project will highlight Dirac-3's capabilities in providing superior solutions to non-deterministic polynomial time hard (NP-hard) problems, improving solution quality and computational speed. A successful outcome is expected to produce long-term benefits for NASA in optimizing big-data processing and could pave the way for similar applications in other fields.
