Rain Enhancement Technologies (RAIN) began operations of its second U.S. installation in Grand County, Utah, on November 18 2025. The Weather Enhancement Technology Array (WETA) system, the company’s ionization‑based weather‑modification platform, is now active and represents Utah’s first such program.
The Utah site covers up to 360 square miles and is licensed by the Utah Division of Water Resources. In addition to rainfall enhancement, the installation expands RAIN’s portfolio to include snow enhancement, a capability that could increase snowpack in the state’s critical mountain basins.
The launch follows the company’s first U.S. installation in Colorado, which began operations on November 11 2025. The two sites together provide a proof‑of‑concept for commercial deployment across the western United States, where persistent drought conditions have heightened demand for water‑augmentation solutions.
However, RAIN’s financial position remains precarious. The company reported a net loss of $2.2 million for the third quarter ended September 30 2025, a decline from a $3.01 million loss a year earlier, and a nine‑month loss of $4.64 million versus $3.36 million a year ago. Management disclosed substantial doubt about its ability to continue as a going concern, citing a working‑capital deficit of roughly $10.1 million and negative shareholder equity.
The operational milestone therefore comes against a backdrop of limited cash reserves and high short‑term liabilities. While the Utah installation demonstrates regulatory approval and technical feasibility, investors and analysts will likely weigh the company’s ability to generate revenue and achieve profitability before assessing the long‑term commercial viability of its technology.
