Vicarious Surgical Inc. (RBOT) announced a strategic partnership with a global digital engineering and software development firm to outsource key software development activities, including control systems, visualization, and workflow components.
The partnership is part of the company’s broader operating‑model transformation aimed at reducing cash burn and extending its runway. Vicarious Surgical had previously cut its expected 2025 cash burn to $45 million from $50 million, and the new arrangement is expected to lower structural costs and accelerate development velocity.
CEO Stephen From said the move will strengthen the company’s ability to execute and improve operating efficiency, allowing internal teams to focus on core innovation and system integration.
While the partner’s name and financial terms were not disclosed, the arrangement is expected to improve milestone predictability and support the goal of design freeze by the end of 2026.
The partnership aligns with Vicarious Surgical’s strategy to achieve clinical readiness and market entry, and is a key component of its cost‑management plan amid a challenging financial environment with zero revenue and negative earnings per share.
