Red Cat Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: RCAT) announced on Monday, 27 October 2025 that its Black Widow drone successfully completed a flight test of Palantir Technologies’ Visual Navigation (VNav) software. The test, conducted in San Juan, Puerto Rico, demonstrated the drone’s ability to navigate in GPS‑denied environments using only onboard sensors and Palantir’s edge‑based visual‑inertial fusion engine.

During the multi‑day test series, the Black Widow flew a 2.7‑kilometer route with a mean positional error of approximately 7 meters, completing a full ISR mission profile—cruise, surveillance, waypoint navigation, and return—without any external hardware additions. The VNav system, already integrated into the U.S. Army’s Short Range Reconnaissance (SRR) program of record, is the first commercial demonstration of visual navigation on a platform accepted by the Department of War.

This milestone marks a breakthrough for Red Cat’s “Family of Systems,” positioning the company to deliver higher‑margin software capabilities and faster fielding of GPS‑denied solutions. The successful test validates a key differentiator that can accelerate the company’s transition to profitability and strengthen its competitive edge in the growing low‑cost, high‑capability UAS market.
