Rogers Communications Secures Monumental 12-Year NHL Media Rights Deal

Rogers Communications and the National Hockey League (NHL) announced a 12-year agreement for the national media rights to NHL games across all platforms in Canada, extending through the 2037-38 season. This C$11 billion deal will commence in the 2026-27 season, following the conclusion of the current 12-year agreement.

Tony Staffieri, President and CEO of Rogers, stated that the NHL has been a strong partner, and these rights represent the most valuable sports rights in Canada. The agreement aims to provide fans with more live national games and fewer regional blackouts than ever before.

Colette Watson, President of Rogers Sports & Media, highlighted that this long-term relationship with the NHL has made Sportsnet Canada’s #1 sports media brand. The financial terms involve escalating annual payments totaling C$11 billion over the 12-year term, and the agreement is expected to be accretive to Rogers shareholders and drive profitability for Rogers Sports & Media from the outset.
