LexisNexis® Risk Solutions published a report on September 9, 2025, revealing new insights into consumer utilization of healthcare provider directories. The findings, based on an Ipsos survey of 3,014 U.S. adults, highlighted that one-third of provider directory users have encountered outdated or incorrect information.
The survey indicated that a large majority of adults, 82%, have used a healthcare directory, but many reported encountering incorrect information and difficulty navigating the tool. This suggests that inaccurate provider data, low awareness, and poor usability may be hindering broad adoption.
Adam Mariano, president and general manager of healthcare, LexisNexis Risk Solutions, emphasized that provider directories are only as useful as the information they contain. The report serves as a call for healthcare organizations to modernize the directory experience, ensuring frequently updated information and aligning features with consumer values to improve access to care and reduce organizational risk.
