Seabridge Gold Inc. reported on May 29, 2025, that it has filed its responses in the British Columbia Supreme Court to petitions challenging the Environmental Assessment Office's (EAO) decision to grant the KSM project a 'Substantially Started' (SS) Designation. The SS Designation, issued on July 29, 2024, ensures the project's Environmental Assessment Certificate is no longer subject to expiry.
The company's submissions reinforce and expand upon the responses previously filed by the BC Government in late April 2025. Seabridge's filings detail its extensive engagement with the petitioners, including providing funding support to the Tsetsaut Skii km Lax Ha (TSKLH) since 2007, and assert that the EAO's decision was procedurally fair and reasonable.
The court hearing for these petitions is scheduled for September 22 to September 29, 2025. Seabridge CEO Rudi Fronk expressed confidence in the strength of the company's and the BC Government's responses, emphasizing that the SS Designation remains in effect during the ongoing legal process.
