374Water Inc. began the first phase of a Waste Destruction Services contract with the State of North Carolina, processing 1,000 gallons of Aqueous Film‑Forming Foam (AFFF) using its AirSCWO technology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Collaboratory.
The contract is part of North Carolina’s 60,000‑gallon AFFF destruction initiative under the Responsible Firefighting Foam Management Act (H370). If the first phase succeeds, 374Water could treat an additional 28,000 gallons in a second phase, bringing the total potential volume to 29,000 gallons.
The deployment marks 374Water’s first commercial Waste Destruction Services deployment and validates its WDS model for large‑scale PFAS and organic waste destruction. The company’s AirSCWO system achieves over 99.99% destruction efficiency for PFAS, converting waste into safe water, mineral effluent, vent gas, and recoverable heat.
Despite the milestone, 374Water remains unprofitable, reporting Q2 2025 revenue of $600,000 versus $37,000 in Q2 2024, and a net loss of $4.6 million. Operating expenses have risen, and the company is burning cash. The company will report its third‑quarter 2025 earnings on November 12 2025, and has secured additional contracts, including a $4 million agreement with the City of Olathe, Kansas, and a collaboration with Crystal Clean.
