U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner toured Champion Homes models at the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) Congress & Expo in Orlando, Florida, on May 6, 2025. The tour aimed to increase public awareness of offsite construction as a vital solution to the nationwide housing shortage. Secretary Turner viewed two of Champion's single-family manufactured homes, the Bal Harbour and the Sawgrass, along with an accessory dwelling unit (ADU), the Calloway. He emphasized the importance of manufactured housing in making homeownership more attainable across the nation, noting the U.S. has a shortage of approximately 1.5 million housing units. Offsite-built homes, such as those produced by Champion Homes, are highlighted for their quality, durability, affordability, and faster construction times compared to traditional site-built homes. The average price of a manufactured home is $159,300, significantly lower than the U.S. median new home price of $419,200 in the fourth quarter of 2024.
