SLB introduced Tela, an agentic AI assistant, on 3 November 2025, designed to automate workflows for upstream oilfield service companies and provide a conversational interface that allows users to interact with the system in a natural, dialogue‑based manner.

Tela integrates with SLB’s existing tools such as Petrel, Techlog, and its cloud services, leveraging the Lumi data and AI platform and large language models to understand domain‑specific contexts and adapt workflows in real time.

The launch aligns with SLB’s digital transformation strategy. In Q3 2025 the Digital division generated $658 million in revenue, an 11% sequential increase, and a pretax operating margin of 28%, underscoring the division’s role in unlocking recurring revenue from digital products.

Industry context shows that competitors such as NVIDIA and Amazon Web Services partner with SLB on digital solutions, and the broader energy sector is investing heavily in AI to improve efficiency and sustainability. Tela’s launch positions SLB at the forefront of AI adoption in the sector.

Management highlighted that Tela will help oilfield service companies reduce cycle times and improve business outcomes, reinforcing SLB’s commitment to delivering value through digital innovation.
