S&P Global Commodity Insights announced on November 20, 2024, that Colombia-based Cercarbono has become the first entity to utilize its Meta Registry® connectivity platform. Cercarbono, a recognized standards-setting body for greenhouse gas reduction projects, will leverage the platform to track, transfer, and retire carbon credits more efficiently.

The Meta Registry, launched in July, is a software and platform solution designed to seamlessly connect environmental registries globally. This technology aims to enhance visibility into carbon credits liquidity and enable the management of entire portfolios from a single platform, promoting confidence and growth in carbon markets.

This adoption by Cercarbono, which hosts approximately 160 environmental projects, underscores the platform's value in mitigating risks like double counting of credits. The partnership reinforces S&P Global's role in advancing environmental markets and providing critical information for achieving climate goals.
