Sequans Communications and MultiTech announced a partnership on January 5 2026 to supply Sequans’ Calliope 2 LTE Cat 1bis platform for embedded cellular modem applications, with a roadmap that extends to future 5G‑enabled Calliope products.

The alliance leverages MultiTech’s 50‑plus‑year history of industrial‑grade device design and Sequans’ carrier‑certified cellular IoT technology to deliver secure, end‑device certified, carrier‑approved embedded platforms. The collaboration is aimed at accelerating time‑to‑market and reducing design cycles for customers in automotive, industrial, healthcare, smart‑city, retail, and agriculture verticals, while also positioning Sequans to transition customers from 4G Cat 1bis to 5G eRedCap.

Sequans’ recent financial performance underscores the strategic importance of the partnership. In Q4 2024 the company generated $11.0 million in revenue and recorded a net loss of $2.7 million, while Q3 2025 revenue fell to $4.3 million with a net loss of $6.7 million. Gross margins have fluctuated, from 68.1% in Q4 2024 to 40.9% in Q3 2025, reflecting mix shifts and investment in new technology. Sequans is targeting operating‑income breakeven by 2026 and has also adopted a Bitcoin treasury strategy, allocating a significant portion of its funds to Bitcoin.

Georges Karam, Sequans CEO, said the partnership “extends the reach of our Calliope platform to new customers and markets, providing a clear pathway from today’s 4G Cat 1bis to tomorrow’s 5G eRedCap.” Stefan Lindvall, MultiTech CEO, added that the collaboration “delivers embedded cellular platforms that are simpler to integrate, faster to deploy and easier to manage, helping our customers scale securely and confidently as their connectivity needs evolve.”

Investors welcomed the partnership, viewing it as a key driver of future growth. Both companies plan to showcase the collaboration at CES 2026, signaling confidence in the joint roadmap and the broader market opportunity for low‑power, secure cellular solutions.

The partnership positions Sequans to broaden its customer base, accelerate product development, and strengthen its competitive stance as the industry moves toward 5G‑enabled IoT deployments. By combining MultiTech’s industrial expertise with Sequans’ proven cellular technology, the alliance is expected to deliver tangible benefits to customers and support Sequans’ long‑term growth objectives.
