ION will become the exclusive television home for the Elevance Health Women's Fort Myers Tip-Off for the next five years, marking Scripps Sports' first national women's college basketball rights deal. This multiyear agreement with Intersport, the tournament manager, begins with the 2025 edition of the Thanksgiving weekend tournament, scheduled for November 28-29.
The agreement ensures that ION will air every matchup live on both days, with distribution across cable, satellite, major streaming platforms, and over-the-air. This adds to Scripps Sports' growing portfolio of women's sports, which already includes partnerships with the WNBA and NWSL.
Brian Lawlor, Scripps Sports president, stated that the Elevance Health Women's Fort Myers Tip-Off will immediately become a major sports property for ION, capitalizing on the exploding popularity of women's sports among audiences and advertisers. This strategic move aims to bring action-packed women's college basketball to fans and further establish ION as a destination for women's sports.
