Scripps Sports announced its broadcast plans for the 2025 WNBA season, with ION set to broadcast a record 50 regular season games as part of its State Farm® WNBA Friday Night Spotlight series. This marks the most regular-season games on television for the league, showcasing thrilling doubleheaders on Friday nights.
ION, a widely distributed network, is available in over 128 million homes via pay TV, connected TV, free ad-supported streaming platforms, and over-the-air. The WNBA on ION Studio Show, the league's first weekly game broadcast studio show, will also return in 2025, featuring host Larry Smith and analysts Autumn Johnson and Meghan McKeown.
The new WNBA season on ION will tip off on Friday, May 16, with a national doubleheader. This expanded coverage follows a successful 2024 season where average viewership for the State Farm® WNBA Friday Night Spotlight increased by 133% over 2023, attracting more than 23 million unique viewers across games and wrap shows.
