The research shows that anatomically accurate, patient-specific 3D-printed phantoms can replicate human anatomy with variances as low as single Hounsfield units (HU) in critical areas. This significantly improves the quality of complex anatomy medical imaging phantoms, allowing surgeons, researchers, and educators to replace simplistic models.
This breakthrough enhances the ability to assess and verify the performance of modern CT systems and ensures algorithms can rely on realistic depictions of human anatomy. The innovation is expected to drive advancements in medical imaging, improve training efficiency, and reduce reliance on cadavers, ultimately improving patient outcomes and costs.
