STMicroelectronics announced on December 10, 2024, the launch of its STM32N6 microcontroller (MCU) series, which is its most powerful to date and the first to integrate accelerated machine-learning capabilities. This series embeds ST’s proprietary Neural-ART Accelerator neural processing unit (NPU), delivering 600 times more machine-learning performance than a high-end STM32 MCU.
The STM32N6 series, available to selected customers since October 2023 and now ready for high-volume offering, enables cost-sensitive and power-conscious consumer and industrial products to provide high-performance features. These features include computer vision, audio processing, and sound analysis, which were previously beyond the capabilities of small embedded systems.
Further bolstering its ecosystem, Edge Impulse announced official support for the STM32N6 MCU, allowing developers to seamlessly leverage its power and efficiency. This collaboration facilitates the rapid creation of applications such as computer vision solutions for industrial and consumer uses, energy management, and anomaly detection.
