SolarBank Advances 6.9 MW Brooklyn Solar Project in Nova Scotia with Local Partner

SolarBank Corporation announced on May 27, 2025, an update on its plans to develop the 6.9 MW DC Brooklyn solar project in Nova Scotia, Canada. The project, owned by AI Renewable Fund, has an estimated total cost of $13.9 million, with SolarBank serving as the developer and builder.

SolarBank is partnering with local Nova Scotia firm Trimac Engineering to deliver the project, which is being developed under the Nova Scotia Community Solar Program. This program supports the province's commitment to achieving 80% renewable energy by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2035.

The Brooklyn project is expected to power 900 homes and is one of only three Community Solar Program Contracts granted in Nova Scotia so far, with AI Renewable winning two due to SolarBank's development expertise. Construction is anticipated to begin in Spring 2026 and be completed in Summer 2026. The company also announced a shares for services arrangement with an arm's length third-party advisor, involving monthly issuance of $35,000 USD in common shares and $35,000 USD in cash compensation.
